A post of pictures.

I have been lazy lately and haven't posted the rest of the pictures from the kids birthday parties. So here they are.

Maddy in her fancy dress at the special restaurant for her birthday. (I had to take the pictures with my blackberry which doesn't take very good ones)

She was such a happy girl!

Eating some chocolate gelato.
Liam's 1st birthday party was pretty cute. I invited Yaya and Umpa King, Thia, Grammy & Umpa Bogus, Uncle Mike, Aunt Emmy, & cousin Lainey, and Great Grandma and Grandpa Skordas. I ordered a huge pan of lasagna, breadsticks, and salad from Olive Garden and custom ordered an adorable cake that matched all of the partywear I got for the occasion. Liam also had his own 'smash' cake which was a really cute Lion face. We decorated the house with crepe paper, a 1st birthday banner, tablecloth, centerpiece, & balloons. I went all out. I decided that since I did the same for Maddy's 1st birthday that I would do it for Liam. I love making birthday parties special, and my kids are very special to me! Since Liam is growing out of his clothes faster than I had expected and already has a ton of toys from Christmas, I asked everyone to get him some new 18 month sized clothing. Luckily they all listened and now he has a whole new wardrobe just in time for summer! Another birthday party success!

Birthday cake!

Lion cupcake.

Side view of the cake. Seriously, isn't this adorable?

He wasn't very sure about the lion cupcake at first. He kept trying to give it away.

Then he took a bite and was very pleased with the taste!
The frosting looked so gross though, it was spaghetti sauce color....

Liam turns 1!

Today is Liam's birthday....sigh....I am both excited and a little sad today. My baby is one. Chris and I tried to have this baby for 4 years and now he isn't even a baby anymore. He is in full toddler mode. He runs around the house chasing the cats, flushes the toilet while I am still sitting on it, eats the hand sanitizer bottle that I keep forgetting to move, and pulls all of the toilet paper off the roll. My baby is growing up.

I thought that I would write about the day he was born while the memory is still fresh in my head.

I was 4 days overdue and sick with the worst flu of my life. I was absolutely miserable. I wanted to be healthy before he came so I was glad that he took his time and passed the due date. I went to the doctor the day before and was finally feeling better. I begged the doctor to induce me but the nurses in the delivery ward were swamped so the best he could do was to schedule an induction for the following morning. Chris and I went home and started getting everything ready for the next day. We went to sleep and around 2 am the contractions began. I had 5 contractions that came about every 4 or 5 minutes. Then they stopped. 15 minutes had gone by and nothing was happening, so Chris and I laid back down in bed and turned off the light. As soon as my head hit the pillow, so did the contractions. They were insanely intense and coming every 3 minutes. We immediately called Chris' mom to come over and watch Maddy while we started getting ready to leave. The pain was pretty bad and the contractions were right on top of each other. Every time one would come I would grab something, bend over and start breathing heavily. Chris was running around the house doing little things but whenever he heard me groaning, he would come running over and start massaging my back, then go running all around the house doing more stuff. I managed to get dressed but not much else. Chris didn't want to wake Maddy so he lifted up the garage door and pushed the car out. I was having contractions about every 2 minutes by the time Chris' mom Cris got to our house so we rushed right out the door when she arrived. Our house is less than 4 minutes away from the hospital and on the drive I had already had another 2 contractions. Chris dropped me off at the front door and parked the car. When we got inside the pain was so bad, I could barely speak. We managed to get to the room, I put on the gown, and dropped in the bed.

This is probably a good time to tell you that I had planned a natural childbirth.... We went to the Lamaze classes and I packed up all of my 'comfort items' in a bag. I had a calming c.d., a picture of Madeleine for a focal point, and even brought a deck of cards to help keep me focused. Well as soon as I laid down in the bed, my contractions were 30 seconds apart which really didn't give me enough time to get used to the pain before it intensified. Chris was sitting next to me helping with my breathing and I think halfway through the first 'he he hoo hoo' I looked Chris in the eyes and said to get me an epidural fast! I felt very defeated but didn't care enough to 'sit out' the pain. While we were waiting for the anesthesiologist to arrive I was screaming bloody murder and pulling at any limb of Christopher's that came withing range of my hands. I was even tearing his ears from his head while screaming louder than I thought possible. The guy came running in and had to time his injection with my contractions. I was having one right when he was halfway in and told me very seriously to hold as still as humanly possible. That was the hardest thing I had to do all night!! The anesthesiologist had to give me a partial spinal block just to make sure the drug would take effect in enough time so after about 4 minutes, I couldn't feel a thing below my waist. I was happy as a clam after that! My mom and sister arrived shortly after and we were all sitting around chatting. The nurse couldn't get a good read of the baby's heartbeat so she decided to put a monitor on his head which of course broke my water. By about 6 a.m the nurse told me that I needed to start pushing. She didn't expect me to push so well so after the third push she left the room. I was still doing my thing until about 6:50 when she came back in and decided to check on my progress. She seemed very shocked at how much I had done because the baby was coming out and the doctor wasn't even there. Another nurse went running out as the first nurse put her hand down on his head and tried holding him in. I was still a little sick and was coughing. The nurse told me I would have to stop coughing quickly because it was pushing the baby out. The doctor ran in and at 6:54 a.m. our little Liam Kingston was born!

They placed him up on my chest and I cried and cried at how beautiful he was. He weighed 8lbs. 1oz. and measured 21 inches long. He was SO worth the wait! After 4 1/2 years of wanting another baby, our little creation was snuggling in my arms! Maddy came soon after and we all hugged each other as a perfect little family of 4.

Over the past year Liam has learned to crawl, walk, and even run. He grew six teeth. Ate his firsts foods. Said his firsts words 'dada', 'mama', 'sissa', and 'WOW'! Had a few accidents. Cried, laughed, giggled, and even growled. He sleeps through the night. Plays all day. And is the most wonderful baby in the whole world! Happy 1st Birthday Liam Kingston Bogus. Mommy and daddy and big sister Maddy love you with all of our hearts!

Baby hair gone....

Last night we took Liam to Cookie Cutters to get his first haircut! He was very curious about it at first but we knew it was only a matter of seconds before he would start to get nervous. We put him in the cute airplane chair, the lady put on his drape, and then started spraying his hair with a water bottle. That is when the fear set in and he wanted out of that plane immediately! So daddy got to hold him while he got his haircut. He still wasn't having any of it. We tried making happy noises and jumping around but nothing was working. That is until one of the other cute hairstylists came over. Man was he in love with her! He just stared at her intently and didn't move a muscle. Such a ladies' man!! After all of his hair was cut, we put him back in the airplane to take a picture. Chris stood up and was covered in all of Liam's cute little baby hair :( I started picking off pieces to keep and pretty much grabbed all of it. I couldn't just let his sweet newborn baby hair go in the trash! I told Chris that he is to never wash his sweater again! Liam looks SO cute though. All grown up...

Right after this first picture is when he got scared.
Daddy to the rescue!
'Hey, what are you doing to me?'

Here he is staring at the pretty lady!

Maddy's birthday

I decided to throw Maddy a birthday party at the Little Gym this year with all of her classmates. The last two years had been at Bouncin' Off the Walls so I felt we needed a change of pace.
The morning of the party Maddy and I spent decorating the house for her afterparty. There was pink and yellow crepe paper all over the livingroom, hallway, kitchen, and even hung from the ceiling fan above the entryway. We set out the cupcakes and snacks and got her all dressed up in her birthday attire.
New birthday shirt and princess tiara
When Chris got home we packed the kids up in the car and drove to the Little Gym. Some of her friends were already there so Maddy ran right off to play. It was a pretty cute place. Huge really. The kids seemed to love it! Everyone was smiling and giggling as they ran from station to station. They had cake and demolished the butterfly pinata then hugged Maddy goodbye. Another successful party. We then went back to our house and had my family and Chris' family over for present opening and visiting. Maddy got a TON of gifts! I have no idea where to put them. I just got done finding places for her Christmas stuff!
A welcome sign!
She was such a happy little girl

Liam had a blast too! It was a huge padded room perfect for an accident prone baby!
Of course we get everyone to look at the camera except the birthday girl who is hiding behind the blue balloon!
Maddy and 15 of her closest friends.
She wanted a bug themed cake. But only the cute bugs...
7 candles *sniffle*
The non-violent pinata. You pull the strings instead of smacking it with the stick!
Opening presents at our house.
Chris and I gave her her very own luggage with horsies and her name on it. She LOVED it. She loves traveling!

Tonight Chris and I are taking her out for a very special birthday dinner. We told her to choose any restaurant she wanted. She narrowed it down to two places: Training Table and 'the place with the ice cream station' (which is Toscano and it has a gelato bar). After doing 'eeny meeny miney mo', she decided on Toscano *YAY*. We are all going to get dressed up 'Fancy Nancy' like and go out on the town. Little Liam is going to stay home with Yaya. We wanted to make Maddy feel very important to have mommy and daddy to herself. Then it all starts over again tomorrow with Liam's first birthday.......
