A couple of weeks ago Chris and I took the kids on a vacation with his parents to Savannah. I was nervous about the plane ride because Liam is well into his 'get into everything-can't sit still-must put anything I can into my mouth' phase. So I packed his diaper bag with tons of toys, snacks, antibacterial wipes, and other various supplies and prepared myself for a very long and difficult flight. Well who would've thought that as we were taking off, Liam fell right asleep and didn't wake up until we were getting ready to land. We had to switch planes in Atlanta, then take a short flight from Atlanta to Savannah. Liam was awake but Chris' parents took him for that one. We took a short drive to our hotel which was across the river from downtown historic Savannah. Amazing view, amazing hotel, amazing rooms! Of course Maddy got straight to putting all of her stuff away the drawers and jumping on all of the beds. Her favorite part about a vacation is always the hotel. Room service, pools, souvenir shops, the works. Liam was thrilled to have a new place to explore and different things to try to put in his mouth.
Over those next 3 days we had so much fun!! We walked all over town oohing and aahhing over the beautiful houses and buildings, stopped to take pictures and admire the amazing parks at every street intersection, ate great food (my first time having fried green tomatoes), shopped for dresses and hats for Maddy, ran through the water fountains, took a horse drawn carriage ride, went on a spooky ghost tour, and of course swam in the pool. Our last day Chris, Maddy, Liam, Chris' mom Cris, and I went to Tybee Island to play in the ocean. Maddy LOVED it immediately and Liam was terrified. He did not want to touch the water or sand. It was very weird for him. We all took turns holding him while following Maddy around as she kept discovering new things up on the sand. Seashells, Jellyfish, and even a baby crab. She was screaming with delight. After about 40 minutes Liam finally let us put him down to sit in the sand. He was suddenly fascinated by it. He loved the way it felt on his toes and in between his fingers. He was digging and digging and digging. He even tried eating it a couple of times (much to my dismay). It was so fun seeing him experience something for the first time. Pure bliss. I completely forgot my camera so I have no pictures but did get a cute video. After a couple of hours of that we went on a dolphin tour. It was really exciting to see them swimming around in the ocean and jumping out of the water. The kids were thrilled. Is was a perfect way to end such an amazing trip.We all LOVED LOVED LOVED that vacation!
So get ready for a ton of pictures. I went a little crazy with my new iPhone camera.
